Course Summary
Session 1: Front Pay
Knowledge of available remedies and damages to successful complainants is a must for anyone involved in the processing or litigation of federal sector EEO complaints. This session will focus on front pay, which the EEOC can award under certain circumstances, and which can lead to substantial monetary explore for agencies. This session will discuss when front pay is appropriate, and what must be demonstrated in order to obtain such an award.
Session 2: Back Pay
This session will cover all the important aspects of back pay awards, including mitigation, other benefits that can be included in back pay awards, and how events such as obtaining other employment, moonlighting, and returning to school impact awards of back pay.
Session 3: Pecuniary & Non-pecuniary Compensation
This session will address both pecuniary and non-pecuniary compensatory damages, how such claims must be established, and how agencies can seek to reduce such awards. This session will include an overview of the latest Commission cases addressing awards of compensatory damages.
